WHERE TO GO

FAQ'S - PARENTS

Where will the event be held?

The event will be held at the Brancott Estate, Main Entrance, 180 Brancott Road, Fairhall (same venue as the old Marlborough Wine Festival). The site will be clearly signposted from New Renwick Road. Parking is available close by but you will need to allow time to find a space. You will be able to drop-off bicycles and passengers near to the entrance.

The children will be running and cycling on the gravel roads and grass all within the vineyard. This fabulous venue means that the children will not need to travel on any public roads and the start, finish and transition areas are all in the same proximity.

How do we enter?

You can enter online  (through paypal) here.

Sorry, there will be no entry on the day.

How will I know that my entry has been received?

Your entry will be confirmed by email within a few minutes of registering.
If you do not receive the confirmation message, please check your Spam or Bulk E-Mail folder just in case the email gets delivered there instead of your inbox.
If so, select the confirmation message and mark it Not Spam, which should allow future messages to get through.

If you have any queries, please contact us.

What if my child has a medical or physical condition?

We welcome all children at this event and disability should be no barrier to participation. Please make sure the Marlbrough Kids Duathlon team know about it. We need to make sure that you will be safe on the day! Please contact us before the event (info@nullkidsdu.co.nz), or on the day talk to our friendly medical team at the first aid tent.

Can my child, who has special needs, compete?

We encourage children of all abilities to take part. Please contact us at info@nullkidsdu.co.nz and we will phone you to discuss your needs on an individual basis.

Can my child go in either race?

Yes. Children can choose the race which best suits their confidence and fitness level, whatever their age.

What training could my child be doing?

There are training tips available on the website you can also contact us if you require more help.

Bike Safety

Please ensure bikes and helmets are in good condition for the event. We recommend that bikes are checked at Bike Fit or any other a cycle store but this is not compulsory. Remember that the course is not suitable for training wheels.

If you think your bike doesn't meet this safety check, take it in to Bikefit Blenheim for a free safety check. You will only be charged for any repairs.

How do we get the race number?

Your child will be given their race number and t-shirt if you have ordered one, at race number collection.

Pre-race day : It is best if you can organize to pick up the race pack for your child before the event, so you have nothing to worry about on the day. You can do this on Friday 15th September between 3-5.30pm and Saturday 16th September between 9.30am-2pm, at Bike Fit, Blenheim. (note Bikefit closes at 2pm on Saturday)

On the day: You can pick up the race pack on the day at the event site between 8.30-9.00am

What time do we have to turn up on the day?

The site will be open from 8.00am. Give yourself plenty of time to park and relax before starting. Allow at least a half-hour for putting bikes into the transition area.

When does the race start?

The Course 1 event starts at 9.30am. Course 2 event starts from 10:15am.

Where is the meeting place?

The registration tent will be the meeting point for lost children and for all queries.

What do we need to bring?

Please ensure all helmets and clothing is named. Bring a change of clothes (especially if it is raining), a drink bottle and sun protection.

To minimise waste and our environmental impact, we are asking competitors to bring their own reusable drink bottle.

There will be water available to refill your bottles on site.

Do we need to bring food?

There will be lots of refreshments available to purchase on site, so you can sit back, relax and enjoy the day! Cash sales only.
